Pavel Sevyarynets stands trial in absentia

Minsk Maksouski District Court has punished Pavel Sevyarynets for the action held on November 24, 2015. The trial was held on January 19. The opposition politician got to know about it by accident and too late. The sentence was pronounced in his absence, he believes.

The subpoena was sent to Vitsebsk, Sevyarynets told Radio Liberty. His mother received it on January 20 –  she accidentally decided to go to the post office. The oppositionist is registered in Minsk Frunzenski District and he regularly visits the police office there.

The case time limitation will expire on January 24. The authorities decided to close the case on the sly, Sevyarynets thinks.

Sevyarynets took part in the action dated for the anniversary of the referendum of 1996 on November 24. He violated the order by ‘placing lit candles on the threshold of the House of the Government’, policemen wrote in their report.

Minsk Maskouski District Court fined Ales Makayeu and Maksim Vinyarski for the same action on January 19 – Br 9.45 million and 10.5 million respectively.
