Official in charge of Independence Square reconstruction resigns

The director of a state-owned company that was responsible for the reconstruction of the Independence Square in Minsk, has resigned, writes Sovietskaya Belorussia newspaper.
It is yet to be confirmed whether his resignation is linked with the fact that radioactive tiles were used to pave sidewalks on the country's main square. The company officials have declined a comment on their director's resignation.

The European Radio for Belarus was the first to raise the issue of higher radiation levels on the Independence Square. See our previous report Radioactive Tiles Found in the Heart of Minsk
