Nomination of candidates for Council of Republic ends today
The nomination of candidates for the Council of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus ends on September 15.
The nomination of candidates is performed by presidiums of district and city Councils of Deputies, district and city executive committees, Minsk City Executive Committee and the presidium of Minsk City Council. The registration of candidates will start on September 16 and end on September 20.
Let us note that citizens cannot elect members of the Council of the Republic, it is done by deputies of local Councils. Their meetings will be organized from September 21 till October 10.
There are 64 members in the Upper Chamber. 8 of them are appointed by the leader of the state.
