No amnesty dated for Independence Day

There will be no amnesty in Belarus till autumn. The House of Representatives’ committee on security, defense and prevention of crimes informed ERB about it. The project hasn’t even been considered yet and the session of the House of Representatives ends today, on June 29. Deputies will be summoned again in October.
The project was to be considered by the President’s Administration. It should have concerned people who committed petty or reckless crimes.

Let us remind you that political prisoners Alyaksandr Kazulin, Zmitser Dashkevich and Artur Finkevich are still behind bars in Belarus. Most of them were punished according to the Administrative Code. They were expected to be released during the amnesty.

According to the Minister of Internal Affaires Uladzimir Navumau, officials from the Administration and probably the President himself did not like something in the project.

By the way, the previous amnesty was announced two years ago. Seven thousand prisoners got their terms shortened by a year. Among them were Mihail Marynich, Yuryi Bandazheuukі and Yagor Rybakou. About 4 thousand people were released.
