"Night of Werewolf" was called “We are Belarusians”
A festival of Belarusian rock “Night of werewolf” took place in Navapolatsk on April 6. The local administration did not allow using the original name of the festival so it was held under a code name – “We are Belarusians”. A co-organizer of the festival Lera Som informed ERB that the “Da.Bl..” (“Oh,F..ck”) band from the village of Narach, Myadzel District won in the contest. They also won the liking of the audience:
Lera Som: “The prize “For the best show” was given to a Navapolatsk band “Denial of Life”. The nomination “The best lyrics” was replaced by the nomination “The best sound” and given to a Smalyavichy band “Acropolis”.
Lera added that about 200 people attended the festival. She does not think it is a small number, but there could be more visitors. The reason for such an attendance was a problem with posters. Their pattern was approved only three days before the festival. The name “Night of Werewolf” was not accepted by the executive committee so the festival had to be organized under an official name “We are Belarusians”.
Lera Som: “It’s okay about the first poster – there was a handsome naked man in it. But they picked on the name: “Why is it the Night of Werewolf?” – “It is in honour of Usyaslay the Enchanter!” – “Do you know the church does not recognize him?” We made another pattern; there was a photo of the monument to Usyaslau the Enchanter and the names of bands. They didn’t like it anyway. They only accepted a clean sheet of paper with the list of bands and that was it”.
The band “Neuro Dubel” was a headliner of the festival. The leader of the band Alyaksandr Kulinkovich told ERB that the hosts were welcoming and nice and that the bands who participated in the contest were not that good:
Alyaksandr Kulіnkovіch: “The people who invited us were very nice. Speaking about the festival I should say the level of the bands was rather low. The sound was terrible. I don’t even remember who performed there and what kind of sound they had”.
Alyaksandr added that he would accept another invitation if “Neuro Dubel” was invited again. Let us remind you that the organizers decided to make “Night of Werewolf” an annual event. At the moment everything testifies to the fact that it will be possible.
