New metro stations to open in Minsk by year end

The first line of the Minsk Metro will be extended at 3 km this year, with the constructors having started doing final touches at the two new stations -- Urucca and Barysauski Trakt.

Works are under way in two shifts, with the electrical equipment soon to be installed. "Barysauski Trakt" will become the least deep stations in the Minsk Metro network, only 12 meters. The platform has already been ready, but wiring work is still to be completed.

According to the designers, the stations will turn out to be cheaper and more functional, as they will lack the Soviet monumentalism, common for the stations built in the USSR times.

The new stations are expected to be put into service in November this year, reports Channel One.
