Negotiations on European Commission's office to begin in Minsk today

The talks over the draft agreement on the opening of the European Commission's office in Belarus are today to begin in Minsk, Jean-Eric Holzapfel, the coordinator for Belarus at the Kiev-based European Commission's Delegation in Ukraine and Belarus told reporters ahead of the negotiations.


Holzapfel said he was today scheduled to meet with Belarus's deputy foreign minister Valery Varanetski, reports Belarus Partisan.

According to the European diplomat, after the talks are finished and the agreement is signed, the Belarusian parliament will have to ratify the document.

Aliaksandr Lukashenka approved the opening of the European Commission's office in Minsk by his October 19 decree.
