National Bank suggests refusing from dollar peg for tariffs, prices and rates

Нацбанк прапануе адмовіцца ад прывязкі тарыфаў, цэн і ставак да долара

The Belarusian National Bank is trying to unpeg the Belarusian rouble. The National Bank and other state bodies are working on the liquidation of the practice of pegging tariffs and rates to the dollar. Such measures were discussed at an expanded meeting of the bank administration on February 18, the National Bank’s website reports.

The dollar and euro pegs will be gradually abandoned in the pricing, rent rates, customs duties and other payments.

The measures taken to unpeg the Belarusian rouble in 2015 have allowed to significantly decrease the influence the exchange rate on the inflation.
