Narcologist sent to mental hospital for bribe

A district court in the Hrodna region of Belarus ruled to send a local narcologist for treatment at a mental hospital. The doctor was found guilty of office abuse and receiving numerous bribes from his patients.
The court determined that this doctor, being a member of a medical commision, would remove alcohol-addicts from the database and give them ficticious certificates about a positive health status. The certificates would then be submitted to the traffic police so that alcoholics could apply for a driving license. The doctor would receive from Br60K to Br80K in bribes. He illegally obtained a total of over Br1 million from the local residents.

Forensic experts detected that the defendant had mental problems that would make him impossible to act adequately when in court. At the same time, experts did not identify any mental disorders at the time when the narcologist  received bribes, reports Belapan.
