Moscow unhappy over growth of Belarus's transit fee for Russian steel

Russia is discontented with the growth of the Belarusian transit fees for steel industry cargo, according to the Russian officials that took part in a meeting between railway experts from Russia's Kalinigrad region and Belarus who gathered to discuss issues associated with the transportation and tariffs for transit cargo.
The Russian experts noted that over the past two years the tariffs for the transit of Russian steel products to the Kalingrad region through Belarus rose at more than 200 percent. They said that this transit fee growth pace would become one of the factors to hamper the growth of cargo turnover between the two countries.

According to Mikalay Verkhavets, Belarus's deputy transport and communications minister, the transport agencies in Belarus and Russian are currently in talks to agree a sole tariff for all of the Russian export cargo in transit through the territory of Belarus, reports MetalTorg.ru.
