Moscow suggests stopping oil supplies to Belarus

Members of the Russian State Duma CIS Affairs Committee Roman Khudyakov has suggested the idea.

We all know that Ukraine is using these oil products to fuel tanks, APCs and other military equipment used in Donetsk and Lugansk Oblasts,” BelaPAN quotes the deputy. “Doesn’t Lukashenka understand that he is destroying our Ukrainian brothers by helping Poroshenko?!”

The Belarusian leader’s actions are unfriendly to Russia and ‘hasty’, he stressed. “If Belarus does finance the war against Donetsk and Lugansk, we should stop oil supplies to these state completely,” Khudyakov claimed.

The experts interviewed by RIA Novosti are sure that Belarus did not mean to increase oil supplies to Ukraine. It probably meant its contract commitments. The conversation of the Belarusian and Ukrainian leaders was preceded by the report of the special oil exporter Belarusian Oil Company about the impossibility of providing full oil supplies to Ukraine in August.

Ukraine needs 10 million tons of oil products a year. Belarus provides about 4 or 4.5 million tons (1.5 million tons of petrol and 2.5 million tons of diesel oil).
