Mir inhabitants protest against construction in rare park
Inhabitants of the village of Mir situated not far from Baranavichy have organized a collection of signatures to protest against construction in a unique park planted with rare trees brought from Minsk Botanical Garden – cedars, larches and thujas. The local authorities have decided to build a 40-flat house in the place although there is a lot of free space nearby.
Inhabitants are worried about the loss of 20-year-old rare trees and the fact that the park separates the industrial zone from the residential area which is good for the ecology of the district. People are also indignant at the fact that only 12 of the 40 flats are planned to be allocated to workers of the local agricultural complex.
