Minsk City Executive Committee has not allowed the March of Solidarity with Journalists, co-leader of the Belarusian Christian Democracy's organizing committee Vital Rymasheuski wrote on Facebook.

Officials replied that the application for the rally did not mention the areas where mass actions are allowed.

"The reason for the refusal is laughable as we indicted the places where mass actions had been allowed in the past. For instance, the venue was the Academy of Sciences where the Chernobyl March starts every year and other rallies are usually allowed. The demonstration was planned to head for Commune of Paris Square where dozens of thousands of people celebrated the Freedom Day last March,” the politician wrote.

The opposition wanted to support the journalists involved in the notorious BelTA case and the convicted leaders of the REP independent trade union.
