Minsk authorities do not allow picket in support of anti-corruption actions

Minsk City Executive Committee has not allowed organizing a picket in support of the state leader’s anti-corruption actions on January 13. According to the organizer – Lyudmila Kuchura – officials explained their refusal by the fact that the picket’s participants would create obstacles for pedestrians and drivers at the crossroads of Bahdanovich, Arlouskaya and Surhanava Streets. In Kuchura’s opinion, the refusal of the city authorities testifies to the fact that the struggle against corruption “began and finished” on November 13, 2008 when the leader of the state held a meeting dedicated to the issue of efficiency of measures taken to fight corruption.
