Media: prominent businessman detained in Belarus

A large Belarusian businessman Alyaksandr Murauiou has been detained in Minsk. Among his assets are a series of glass producing companies in Belarus and Russia, as well as enterprise Motavela. Ej.by notes that the law enforcement agencies have not confirmed the information about detention yet.

According to unofficial information, along with Mr Murauiou were arrested two of his brothers and several partners - all in all nine people. The reason is a violation of the investment agreement terms.

It is noted that Alyaksandr Murauiou occupies the 36th place in the top 200 of most successful and influential businessmen of our country. His assets include Yalizava Glassworks, Beleuratara, Homiel Glass Works, Vorga Glassworks (Smolensk region), service and trade enterprises in Belarus, Russia and Austria. He also owns a consortium of MVW, which includes Motavela.

Incidentally,  Mr Murauiou used to head the Belarus Cycling Federation.
