Lukashenka offered S-300 systems to Milošević

The Belarusian President told Serbian journalists about it before his possible visit to this country.

"To tell you the truth, we considered this way of assisting Mr. Milošević. We offered him S-300 and warplanes. We even prepared the routes. We found hero pilots in Belarus who were ready to fly to Serbia without being noticed. It was very risky as they had to use warplanes and fighters instead of passenger planes,” Lukashenka claimed. The planes had to cross Ukraine, he added.

Slobodan Milošević refused. When NATO started its war operation it was too late to send surface-to-air missile systems to Yugoslavia – the blockade had already begun.
