Lukashenka and Yushchenko meet in Saint-Petersburg

A meeting of Alyaksandr Lukashenka and Victor Yushchenko took place during an unofficial CIS summit on June 10 in Saint-Petersburg. The UNION agency informed (referring to the Ukrainian President’s press secretary Irina Vannikova) that Mr. Yushchenko and the Belarusian President discussed “the possibility of signing a number of bilateral documents on border cooperation and in the legal sphere and power economy.”

The negotiations of the leaders of the two countries have been put off many times. It was announced that Lukashenka was going to Visit Ukraine on February 26 and then on March 12. On March 15, during his visit to Denmark, V.Yushchenko informed that the meeting with A.Lukashenka would take place during the following 10-15 days. But it never happened.

Alyaksandr Lukashenka returned to Minsk from Saint Petersburg on the evening of June 10.
