Klimov's mother: My son is subjected to forced starvation
The mother of Andrei Klimov, a famous politician sentenced to two years in prison for an article in the internet, said the prison authorities make her son starve. According to the woman, macaroni, tea and other foodstuffs are routinely confiscated from the parcels that she sends to Andrei Klimov. The politician's mother said her son is seriously ill and that his body cannot accept prison food, reports Telegraf.by.
The mother asked Igar Rynkevich, the former lawyer of imprisoned Alexander Kozulin, to help draw attention of the public to the situation with Andrei Klimov.
The European Radio for Belarus reported earlier that Klimov's wife has not been receiving letters from her husband since October 18. In his latest letter, Andrei wrote: "I am in hell. I need to survive through Monday in order to see the hell as it is".
Andrei Klimov was arrested on April 3, 2007 after he posted his article on a web site. He was charged with degrading the president and calling to overthrow the government. The politician was tried in a closed-door court and sentenced to two years in a high-security prison.
