KGB decline comment on Russian businessman's detention

Russian businessman Maxim Finskiy has been detained in Minsk, Russian mass media report. He is called the right-hand man of politician and billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov. According to reports, Prokhorov’s main partner and ex-CEO of Intergeo is jailed in KGB prison now.

Meanwhile, the Belarusian State Security Committee has not commented on the information yet, BelaPAN reports.

Finskiy fled from his house arrest and left Russia, Russian mass media report. A criminal case was started against him. He was jailed at first and put under a house arrest later. The businessman had failed to pay numerous debts to Russian banks and other investors.

Finskiy is said to have arrived in Belarus with a fake passport of some Mr. Ulasau. He planned to set off for Frankfurt and then to Miami. He fled from the house arrest in Prokhorov’s security car. Russian policemen have arrived in Minsk to get Finskiy back but Belarus has refused to extradite the businessman.  Belarus would like to keep Finskiy in Belarus for financial reasons.
