Kerimov's arrest in Russia possible only upon permit of Federation Council

"All senators and members of the State Duma have such status. The Prosecutor General of Russia appeals to the Federation Council, and the Council considers the issue on deprivation of the legal privilege. This is a very complicated procedure," representatives of the Russian Federation Council explained to Euroradio.

Therefore, the Russian law-enforcement agencies cannot arrest Suleiman Kerimov.

The key shareholder of Uralkali has been put on a wanted list, also by the Interpol. Suleiman Kerimov's actions are qualified as organization of abuse of power and professional authorizations. The maximum punishment is up to 10 years in prison with property confiscation.
