Javier Solana's envoys to visit Belarus on December 16
Pirkko Tapiola and Helga Schmidt, the advisors to Javier Solana, EU Commissioner for Foreign Policy and Security, are expected to visit Belarus on December 16, Alexander Milinkevich told the European Radio for Belarus. “The visit was initially planned for November 30-December 1, but he called me and said that the visit was put off for December 16. I think this is confirmed”.
According to Milinkevich, Solana's envoys will meet with officials and representatives of the opposition while in Minsk. The politician hopes that a "road map" would have finally be outlined to give way for the development of relations between the official Minsk and the European Union.
In his turn, the former presidential contender will raise the issue of political prisoners who still remain behind bars. Milinkevich will also talk about the registration of unregistered non-governmental organizations in Belarus.
