Harachka: Zeltzer may be released in two weeks
American Emmanuel Zeltzer serving his sentence in Belarus can be included in the amnesty dated for the 65th anniversary of the liberation of our country from fascist invaders. He may be released by the end of May.
Zeltzer’s lawyer Zmitser Harachka has informed ERB about it:
"The amnesty law has been officially published today. It has come into power. Zmitser can be amnestied as a person sentenced to imprisonment for up to 6 years becasue he has served a third of this term according to article #3. According to the law, it is necessary to serve a quarter of the term”.
Let us remind you that Emmanuel Zeltzer was arrested in Minsk together with his secretary Uladlena Funk last March. He was punished for using fake documents and an attempt of commercial espionage. The USA has urged the Belarusian authorities to release Zeltzer many times as his health condition has grown worse. Uladlena Funk was released this March after a year of imprisonment and returned to the USA, reminds BelaPAN.
