Government plans to abolish quota for 75 percent of Belarusian music

A decision to reduce the quota of the Belarusian music from 75 percent down to 50 percent on the radio airewaves might be taken in the near future, an anonymous source in the government told the Interfax news agency. Allegedly, the measure aims to improve competition "in the musical culture". In the view of officials, many Belarusian artistes "have frozen on the same level and stopped developing as creative persons, remembering that they would be rotated on the radio anyway because of this quota".
