Fyaduta: Resignation will not have impact on relations with Europe

The resignation of Belarus' Interior Minister Uladzimir Navumau will not have any impact on the political situation in Belarus, Alyaksandr Fyaduta, a former ally of Alyaksandr Lukashenka who later wrote a book critical of the Belarusian president, told ERB.
"What can happen when one minister replaces another? Can anything change as a result in this country? Nothing changed before. It got only worse. Riot police will always cling to their batons. No matter who gives orders to riot policemen this will not have any effect on relations with Europe, because the minister takes orders, not issues them," Fyaduta said.

Navumau resigned on Monday citing health reasons months after he had declared that he would have no rest until those who had detonated a bomb in a crowd during Independence Day celebrations last summer were brought to justice.

Fyaduta said that Navumau might have resigned because his agency failed to solve the case. "I think he should have resigned as a decent man after failing to make good on his public promise."

Аляксандр Фядута:
“Я думаю, што ён павінен быў як прыстойны чалавек, паколькі публічна дадзенае абяцанне не выканана, трэба было сысці ў адстаўку самому".
