Former Lithuanian President Algirdas Mykolas Brazauskas has died

A former President and PM of Lithuania Algirdas Mykolas Brazauskas has died after a long illness at the age of 77. He won at the first free presidential elections in the country in 1993. Brazauskas became head of the government as the leader of the Social-Democratic Party that had won at the parliamentary elections in 2001. Lithuania became a member of NATO and the European Union during this period, reminds ITAR-TASS.
