First female cosmonaut spoke Belarusian in childhood

Valentina Tereshkova, the world's first female cosmonaut, spoke Belarusian in childhood, she said when visiting Minsk recently.
“My mother was born in the village of Yerameeschyna in today's Dubrovenski district. My father was born near Mahilyou", Tereshkova said. "The parents moved to the central Russia in early 20th century, because there was not enough food at home".

All my grandmothers spoke Belarusian and used to sing Belarusian songs. People would first make laugh at me when I used Belarusian words instead of the Russian ones when I was a child.
