Famous banker freed early

Jaugen Krautsow, the founder and the former CEO of MinskKomplexBank, has been freed early after having spent five years behind bars. Krautsow who described himself as a banker of the new wave avoids contacts with the media at freedom. His bank invested huge amounts of money to the Minsk-based Horizon TV factory.

He built a beautiful and spacy office in front of the house of the government. The banker was arrested and interrogated by KGB officers. He was sentenced to 9 years in a high-security prison, expropriation and a ban to take managerial positions within five years for embezzlement and abuse of office.

Under amnesty, his term was reduced by one year. In accordance with the court ruling, Krautsow had to refund the material danage of Br4.2 billion (nearly $2 million) to MinskKomplexBank.

The Belarus Partisan web site, which reported this news, suggests that the banker might have paid off all the money, since he has been freed early. The site notes that Jaugen would spend a lot of money even while in prison where he once invited a popular rock bank to perform.
