Ex-presidential contender Alexander Kozulin beaten in prison?

The European Radio for Belarus calls the administration of the correctional colony after former political prisoner and a member of parliament Sergei Skrabets has told about the beating of Alexander Kozulin. Skrabets: “I met two prisoners that used to share a cell with me. They told me about this fight. They also said that Kozulin was still under pressure”.

The incident took place in the evening when the inmates were returning to their cells after work. The officer in charge of the guards, known to have numerously beaten prisoners according to Skrabets, insulted the ex-presidential hopeful. Kozulin answered harshly in respond. After that, the guard attacked the professor and started beating him. Other prisoners, who witnessed the incident, managed to pull the guard away.

Skrabets: “Kozulin filed a written demand to investigate the incident. Officials from the regional department of corrections came and closed the case. Witnesses were told to keep their mouth shut, otherwise they would subjected to punitive measures”.
