EU delegation to assess state and prospects for relations with Belarus

Delegation of the European External Action Service and the Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations will arrive in Minsk for the visit held on 9-10 December. Accordingto the press service of the EU Delegation to Belarus, the delegation will be headed by Gunnar Wiegand, Managing Director for Europe and Central Asia, Katarina Mathernova, Deputy-Director General of the Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations
It is noted that the delegation will include representatives of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Trade.

The EU will meet with government officials, opposition and civil society, as well as with the heads of missions of the EU countries and representatives of international organizations. The goal is to assess the state of relations between the EU and Belarus and to discuss further steps.

On December 7-9, the Belarusian capital will host another EU delegation. Its task is to prepare an annual action program for the EU and Belarus (ie. Program of cooperation with Belarus in 2016 with financial support from the EU). It will be headed by Mathieu Busquet, Regional Programmes Neighbourhood East at the DG European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiation.
