EU Ambassadors meet opposition leaders

Ambassadors of EU member states met leaders of the united democratic forces in Minsk yesterday. The meeting was initiated by heads of diplomatic representatives. According to the Embassy of Slovakia now representing the EU in Belarus on behalf of Portugal, diplomats wanted to get to know the opposition’s point of view on the situation in the country.

In particular, Ambassadors were interested in the way preparations for the Social March of November 4 were being done.

Diplomats hope that the Belarusian authorities will continue respecting constitutional rights of citizens guaranteeing them the freedom of assembly and speech like they did during the European March thus approaching democratic standards of other European countries.
