Ethnic minorities to protest in Vilnius

A protest action of ethnic minorities is scheduled to take place on March 13 near the Czech Embassy in Vilnius. The Regnum news agency reports Poles, Belarusians, Russians and Ukrainians are expected to participate.
The city authorities permitted the rally. The location -- the Czech embassy -- was picked because of the country's current presidency in the European Union.

The action participants plan to draw the attention of the European Union to the violations of their rights in Lithuania, namely, the Lithuanian spelling of their names in passports. They are also banned from leaving written public statements in their native languages in the places of the compact residence of ethnic minorities.
