Dmitry Kiselyov says 'not responsible for war in Ukraine'

Дзмітрый Кісялёў не бачыць сваёй адказнасці за вайну ва Украіне

On April 7, a multimedia press center Sputnik, the child project of the international news agency "Russia today", opened in Minsk.

At its opening, the General Director Dmitry Kiselyov said that "Russia Today" and Sputnik are not intended to criticize the current Belarusian authorities. To the meeting with journalists were also invited Information Minister Liliya Ananich and Russian Ambassador to Belarus Alexander Surikov.

Ananich said she would try to prevent the new information war between Belarus and Russia. According to her, BelaPAN reports, todays "information wars are waged not only in respect to Belarus and Russia", but also "in global terms - between East and West."

In response, Kiselyov said that he "does not think in terms of information warfare." And if between the two countries "there is some dispute, it does not mean war." "We, Sputnik, are not at war with anyone in the world. Information warfare is waged by the United States of America cybersquads which are run by a four-star General. We are engaged in professional work, in journalism."

Reporters asked Kiselyov, if he feels responsible for the fact that his show "inspired" a lot of people to the war against Ukraine. The Russian guest said he did not feel involved in "the coup d'état that took place in Ukraine, of cluster munitions, which the Kyiv regime dropped at Ukraine's civilians." According to him, there is a civil war in Ukraine, which began "with the support of the Americans."
