Customs union delegation begins WTO accession talks in Geneva

Belarusian, Kazakh and Russian officials began discussions in Geneva on June 17 on the accession of the three countries' customs union to the World Trade Organization (WTO), RIA Novosti reported citing Maksim Medvedkov, director of the Trade Talks Office at the Russian Ministry of Economic Development.   The three countries' prime ministers announced on June 9 that the customs union would seek membership of the WTO as a single entity.

 

Reuters reported that Russia and Kazakhstan have not yet formally suspended individual accession efforts.
