Contact group on Ukraine to gather in Minsk on May 22

The Contact Group on Ukraine will gather in Minsk on Friday, May 22. Representatives of Ukraine, Russia, the OSCE and the self-declared republics ‘DPR’ and ‘LPR’ (Denis Pushilin and Vladislav Deinego have been officially invited) will take part in the meeting. The exchange of all captives is likely to be one of the main topics on the agenda.

The contact group gathered in Minsk on May 6 last time. It was decided to launch the work of security, politics, economy and humanitarian aid subgroups coordinated by the OSCE.  The economic subgroup met in Minsk last week and discussed the way of paying pensions and the restoration of the banking system in Donets Basin.

Two subgroups on the peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine met in Minsk on May 19 – the security and humanitarian aid subgroups (see the video). They discussed the exchange of captives in Donets Basin (in the ‘one for one’ format).
