Chavez threatens to halt oil supplies in case of US aggression

Talking to the participants of an energy summit for the Caribbean nations, Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez he would halt oil supplies to the United States, if the Washington administration staged an aggression against his country. Chavez also accused the U.S. of plotting a coup d'etat in Venezuela in 2000, reports the Moscow-based radio station Ekho Moskvy. Hugo Chavez called on the international community to start getting ready to face oil prices hitting $100 per barrel. The Venezuelan president explained the oil price growth by "a world crisis" that broke out because of excessive consumption of the "black gold".
