Popular Front party to picket Russian Embassy?

The party has applied for the picket, BPF leader Alyaksei Yanukevich told Euroradio.

“The deployment may be only the first step. That is why we think that the Belarusian society should be more serious about these plans,” Alyaksaei Yanukevich noted. “A firm position can make Russians refuse from the idea of deploying military bases here and the Belarusian authorities may reconsider these decisions or change their format.”

A Russian air base will be deployed in Belarus in two years, Russian Minister of Defense Sergei Shoigu announced in late April. Although these plans are not certain yet, this is not a PR move; this is a real attempt to enhance Russia’s imperial influence here, Mr Yanukevich maintains.
