Belarusian poetry day is celebrated in Anatol Sys’s homeland

A day of Belarusian poetry was celebrated in the homeland of a poet Anatol Sys in the village of Haroshkau, Rechytsa District, on Sunday.
The event took place for the third time. A monument created by a sculptor Henik Loika was installed on the grave of Sys. More than 300 people collected money for it. Anatol Sys’s relatives and friends and representatives of the intellectual elite – more than 120 people – took part in the celebration of the day of poetry.

"You can have a poet’s or a writer’s certificate and consider yourself to be one but there are very few people like Anatol was. Time will pass and Sys will become a cult figure in Homel Region like Karatkevich is for Vitsebsk Region and Kupala - for Minsk Region”, - said a literary man Yazep Yanushkevich in an interview with BelaPAN.
