Belarus, Russia inspect Latvia's skies

A team of Belarusian and Russian military inspectors will on May 4-8 make surveillance flights over the territory of Latvia. The inspection will be carried out in the framework of the Open Skies agreements, reports Belapan.  The inspectors will take off aboard Russian Antonov-30B from a military airfield in Latvian capital, Riga. The flight plans have been approved by the Latvian government 

The Open Skies agreement was signed in Helsinki on March 23, 1992. Its practical implemtation was begun on January 1, 2002. The Open Skies pact was joined by 35 countries of Europe and North America to control armament between former Cold War foes.
