Belarus railways hit by crisis

The drop in potassium mining company Belaruskaliy's output has affected the Belarusian railways as the number of delivers plummeted. The management of the Belarusian Railways ordered its regional branches that they are allowed to spend money on procurement and services in emergency situations only.

Under the order, every staff should take at least one-day leave per month. Apparently, not only conductors have been ordered to stay at home.

The news stroke workers at the Mahilyou department of the Belarus Railways in mid- January.

"Belaruskkaliy was our major income source. But after the shipments to Russia plummeted due to the crisis, we are affected", Bulletin Online quoted one of the workers as saying.
