Belarus increases local content on state-run TV channels

Belarusian TV channels have to create their own information products more actively, Information Minister Aliaksandr Karliukevich said on Monday.

"By December 2020, the monthly programming output should contain at least 30% of Belarus-made content," BELTA reports quoting the minister as saying. Karliukevich called on the TV channels' workers to focus on audience research and take into account the age and gender demographics.

He commended Belarusian TV and Radio Company, which has 7 TV and 5 radio programs. According to Karliukevich, the company studied its audience well. Hence, a bigger share of TV viewing for programming produced by state TV channels Belarus 1, Belarus 2 and Belarus 3. ONT and CTV channels also reported an increase in viewing.
