Belarus at Ice Hockey World Championship: stats + video of all games

Belarus won only once (over Slovenia) - 4:3 (1:1, 1:0, 2:2) and was defeated six times: by Czech Republic - 0:2 (0:1, 0:0, 0:1), Sweden - 1:2 (1:0, 0:1. 0:1), Canada - 1:4 (0:2, 0:1, 1:1), Norway - 1:3 (0:1, 0:1, 1:1), Denmark - 2:3 (0:2, 2:1, 0:0), and Switzerland - 1:4 (0:1, 0:0, 1:3).


The Belarusian players scored only 10 goals, the worst performance at the tournament. The scorers are Kanstantsin Kaltsou (2), Ilya Kaznadzei, Alyaksandr Kitarau, Alyaksandr Kulakou, Andrei Filichkin, Alyaksei Ugarau, Raman Hrabarenka and Alyaksei Yafimenka. Besides, Filichkin, Hrabarenka and Kaznadzei are defenders. The first goal for Belarus was scored by Ilya Kaznadzei at the 18th minute of the game against Slovenia. Belarusians scored once, being in the majority (Andrei Filichkin, against the Slovenians).


As for the strikers' rankings, Kanstantsin Kaltsou (2+0), Ilya Kaznadzei (1+1), Alyaksandr Kitarau (1+1), Alyaksandr Kulakou (1+1), Andrei Stas (1+1), Yauhen Kavyrshyn (1+1) and Alyaksei Uharau (1+1) got 2 points each. Dzmitry Myaleshka (0+1), Aleh Haroshka (0+1), Alyaksei Yafimenka (1+0), Artsyom Dzyamkou (0+1), Yauhen Salamonau (0+1), Raman Hrabarenka (1+0), Vyachaslau Andrushchanka (0+1) and Ilya Shynkevich (0+1) got 1 point each.


The Belarusians shot at their rivals' goals less than the others - only 128 times in 7 games (then come the Norwegians with 148 shots, and the Swedes lead with 261 shots). Defender Pavel Charnavok shot on goal 15 times but failed to score. As for the goal efficiency, Belarusians are on the 12th place (7,81%). Russia showed the best results - 14,8%.

Our team was the worst with regard to using the benefit of majority - they scored only ones in 23 attempts (4,35%). Switzerland showed the best results here - 36% (9 of 25). As for playing in the minority, Belarusians are on the 14th place out of 16 (they missed 9 goals in 31 cases of playing in the minority). Only Slovenia and Austria were worse in that - 69,23% and 68,97% correspondingly.

Belarus missed 21 goals, which is not the worst result in fact, most of them were scored by Canada and Switzerland (4 each). Belarusians missed the most in the third period - 7, in the first perion - 7. Goalkeeper Vital Byalinski missed 11 goals in 4 games, having saved 92,52% of shots on goal, Dzmitry Milchakou missed 9 goals in 3 games, having saved 89,66% of shots on goal. Byalinski substituted Milchakou at the 28th minutes in a game against Denmark with the score being 0:3 and missed no more goals till the end of the game. Our rivals scored 8 goals in the majority, 1 - in the minority (the Danes), and we also missed once with an empty goal (from Switzerland).


The following Belarusian players spent the most time on ice:  defender Raman Hrabarenka - 163:35, defender Pavel Charnavok - 138:59, defender Ilya Shynkevich - 137:40, forward Alyaksandr Kulakou - 126:38.

As for sending off, Artsyom Kisly and Alyaksandr Kitarau "stand out" - 12 penalty minutes each (15th place among all at the tournament), as well as defender Yaraslau Maslennikau with 8 minutes (28th place). Latvia's Martins Cipulis and Russia's Ilya Kovalchuk lead the rating - 29 penalty minutes each.
 


As for attendance, Belarus is on the second to last place - 3970 viewers per game on average. Only Slovenia was worse in that - 3579. Finland's games were attended by the most of the people - 12232, Sweden comes next with 12047 and the USA has 8507.
