Belarus authorities want dialogue with EU

Belarus is ready to make concrete steps towards the improvement of relations with the European Union and expects adequate actions from EU, Belarus's vice prime minister Andrei Kabyakow said during the meeting on November 5 with European Commission's deputy director general for external relations Hugues Mingarelli. "The Belarusian side realizes the need for dealing with the so called "home work" outlined during the dialogue with EU, but counts on adequate actions from the European Union", Kabyakow said.

Hugues Mingarelli stated that EU was initiating cooperation with Belarus "in three new fields: the regulation of product quality and standards, the interaction between financial institutions and in the field of agriculture and food safety". He stressed that his visit was "the continuation of the decisions adopted by the Council of EU foreign ministers in October, reports Interfax.
