Belarus athletes promised $2500 bonus for every world record

The Belarusian athletes have so far won 2 gold, 3 silver and 8 bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Beijing. At the same time, our wight-lifters Andrei Rybakou and Andrei Aramnau set 4 world records. The European Radio for Belarus explores what bonuses these athletes should expect. Mikhail Zakharanka, the state weight-lifting coach at the Ministry of Sports and Toursim, says that the government has allocated $2500 for every world record.

Thus, golden medalist Andrei Aramnau will receive a bonus of $6250 for three world records. Silver midalist Andrei Rybakou will receive $2500 for the world record in decathlon.

In addition, the government promised $100,000 and an apartment for a golden medal plus $10,000 from the Chinese sponsors; $50,000 for a silver medal plus $5000 from sponsors; $30,000 plus $3000 for a bronze medal, correspondingly.

Chinese athletes will receive $1,000,000 for gold, $500,000 for silver and $250,000 for a bronze medal.
