Authorities ban picket for demolition of Lenin monuments in Polatsk

The authorities in the city of Polatsk have banned a picket to collect signatures in favor of demolishing two Lenin monuments. Officials justified their decision by saying that the picket "will endager public safety".
The action was planned to take place on April 23 near the local cinema. Despite the ban, activists have continued to collect signatures in a private manner. Several hundreds residents of the city have already endorsed the demolition of the Soviet-time Lenin monuments.
