Andrei Haidukou to stand trial on Thursday

Activist of the Belarusian Christian Democracy Andrei Haidukou has been let off from the police, BCD activist Tatstsyana Sevyarynets told BelaPAN. The young man is accused of organizing an unauthorized mass action.

Haidukou will have to appear in Polatsk Court on November 27. The hearing will start at 4.30 p.m.

Haidukou was detained for the distribution of leaflets about political prisoners in Belarus on Monday, Euroradio reported. It was his second detention in four days.

The young man was sentenced to 1.5 years of imprisonment for trying to establish contacts with a foreign security service. The hearing was closed. Belarusian human rights defenders announced that Haidukou was a political prisoner. He was released in May 2014.
