Aleh Hamenka: Information about blast reached organizers very quickly

Aleh Hamenka, the head of the “Palats” band who was supposed to perform at the concert “We are Belarusians” has informed ERB that the information about the explosion that took place in the crowd on the night of July 4 reached the organizers of the concert very quickly. In his opinion, the organizers did a good job because they continued the concert and did not spread panic: Aleh Hamenka: A panic could have started if it had been announced from the stage. Just imagine somebody entering the scene and saying: “An explosion has just taken place”. It could have caused panic and increase the number of victims.

“Palats” was near the scene at the moment of the explosion. Aleh Hamenka told ERB that the concert was shortened because of the danger of other explosions. “Palats” was among the bands that did not have an opportunity to perform. According to Hamenka, there were about 15 singers who did not enter the stage.
