19th century bunker is found in the place of former “Central” terminal
A 19th century bunker has been found in the place of the “Central” terminal. A new building is being constructed there. It is a small shelter about 5 metres high and 10 meters wide. Even a powerful excavator did not manage to destroy the concrete walls. According to “SB”, the bunker did not look like a WWII air-raid shelter although two other bomb shelters were situated nearby – in Mahailau Park and near Chynunachnaya Street.
The head of the archeology department of the medieval period if the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences Alyaksandr Myadzvedzeu noted that a station of Libavo-Romen railway line was situated in that place.
