120 millionth ton of petroleum extracted in Belarus

The 120 millionth ton of petroleum has been extracted in Belarus, reports BelTA. The official date of the beginning of extraction of “the black gold” in Belarus is August 20, 1964.
A steady oil inflow was discovered in Rechytsa District on that day. Belarusian oil got to the pipeline “Friendship” six months later and its industrial production started then.

The biggest amount of “the black gold” was produced in 1975 – almost 8 million tons. For comparison, only 1.7 million tons of oil is supposed to be produced this year.
