11:51 U.S. expand "black list" of Belarus officials
The United States have imposed sanctions against a number of Belarusian officials suspected of having rigged the results of the presidential elections last March.
У The Belarus Prosecutor General Piotr Miklasevic, Education Minister Aliaksandr Radzkou, Information Minister Uladzimir Rusakevich, Commander of the Riot Police Yury Padabed, the former Interior Minister Yury Sivakou and a Ministry of Justice official, Aleh Slizeuski have been added on the U.S. "Belarus's blackn list".
The U.S. Department of Treasury announced that their property was frozen on the American territory. U.S. citizens are also banned from having any business relations with these Belarus officials.
Last year, the U.S. intriduced similar sanctions against Aliaksandr Lukashenka and nine high-ranking Belarusian officials. The European Union joined the U.S. in the sanctions.
