10:05 Former KGB agent declares hunger strike in UK

The former Soviet spy, living in Great Britain since 1992, Victor Makarov has announced a hunger strike in protest to how the British authorities are treating him. Makarov believes that he desereves a pension, which could help him survive and pay his health care bills. Victor Makarov served as a KGB agent for 13 years. During the period of two years, he was leaking the Soviet intelligence secrets to the British spies.

Makarov was arrested in 1987 for treason. He spent five years in jail and later migrated to Great Britain. He hoped that the British authorities would take care of him and offer him a jon within the intelligence community. However, he only got a small pensio from the British government.

Victor Makarovр has already managed to receive a compensation of 65,000 pounds in a British court, reports ITAR-TASS.
